On Guard was formed to provide high school fencers in Georgia with the opportunity to compete with fencers from other Georgia High Schools in an environment that values honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship. High School fencing in Georgia is a fast-growing activity, currently supported through the high schools as an athletic club. The On Guard league is expanding, with new high school fencing clubs being added regularly. If you would like to start a fencing club or fencing team at your high school, please select the page called "Start a New Club" on the left. For a list of currently participating high schools, click here. This league is being run with complete transparency of action, and all meetings are open to the General Membership. General Members are faculty sponsors, parent sponsors, & fencers. Each member school has 1 representative to the board, and each school has 1 vote. We send all communications to each school's representative. We are organized as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit under IRS codes. One of the guiding principles of the On Guard HSFL, is that every experienced fencer who wishes to participate - in practices and in tournaments - is welcome. Fencers from all participating high schools will fence at every tournament, if they so desire. The On Guard High School Fencing League of Georgia invites fencers who are trained in all three traditional weapons, epee, foil and sabre, to compete in the league. The OGHSFL wishes to eventually attain sanctioning by the Georgia High School Sports Association, making fencing a varsity high school sport in Georgia.
